If you are going to remember one name from this season, let it be Emory Wellman. Scientist and sole FMP on February 19, 2023, against The Dump Beetles. When is the last time you played Every Single Point? IYKYK
Our numbers were meh but our determination and resolve to bounce back from a tough loss on a windy day the week before was solid. Mohammad the glue to our team was there and with Jim Davis in attendance, this game was over before it started.
Ben was a few minutes late, so Brandon rounded us up and laid out the gameplan in the tone of a grandfatherly wood carver sitting on the front porch on a mild summer evening.
By the time Ben arrived The Murder Hornets had put up 5 unanswered points against The Dump Beetles. There were no spectacular defensive plays on our part, except that once a turn occurred we capitalized on each of them.
The following is just an observation:
When Ben stepped on the field The Dump Beetles made their first score of the game…I’ll just leave it at that😉
Really what happened is that The Roseman and Holy Commissioner himself called a timeout to reset their approach and gave Sam Lovelace time to cleat up. From that point on we pretty much traded points until the game ended at 15-8 Murder Hornets over Dump Beetles.
Cool people doing cool things:
Jeff Rose – The man laid it all on the line for a defensive bid that was textbook.
Emory Wellman – Did I mention she played 23 points!? Impressive stamina and use of field space.
Alek Hartzog – Skyed the hell out of Tommy and was a great sport about it.
Trieu Nguyen – The definition of a cutter with the mental calm of a handler.
Abbie Post – Got a sick run-through D on Tommy playing in the handler position. (I’m sensing a pattern here)
Andrew Reynolds – Flipped his inner-squirrel switch off and was super effective all game.
Jake Todd – Played smart D, effecting plays every time he was on the field.
Ben Chapin – Such a great field captain and honored to play as a handler alongside him
I’ve seen The Dump Beetles turn in on, so do not let your guard down, Nathan Schaller, when you play them on February 26, 2023!
