The bumbleDeez were feeling great coming into their week 1 matchup after a pretty strong showing at the preseason games. However, we started the game with careless mistakes while the murder hornets were capitalizing on those mistakes and got off to an early lead.
The 2nd half was much different. We were down 12-8 at one point and while many teams would’ve thrown in the towel, the bumbleDeez fought back. We were able to score 4 straight with some amazing highlight plays from all around the team. Trevor was scoring like crazy, skying murder hornets left and right, and even caught an incredible hammer from Adam. Adam also had a stall 9 punt for a crucial score. Joe was continuously carving up the zone and had a dime piece to Fletcher who turned back the clock and got up high for the score. All these highlights and amazing popping from the bumble ladies of Larissa, Taylor, Lucia, and Ellie made for a great 2nd half comeback.
We were finally feeling like we could win at 13-13. A couple of long points highlighted by a Billy layout D and some melodic offense led to universe point with the hornets on O. We played our best defense possible with Ellie tipping the disc that was unfortunately caught by Bonnie and dumped in for the score. Murder hornets win on universe.
Overall, it was an amazingly intense and well-spirited game. We want to highlight our MVP of the day, Jibril. Jibril had two spectacular plays that changed the momentum of the game. He had a HUGE D on a huck that would’ve been a score if he hadn’t made the play. He also caught a big score during our comeback, thrown by Ben B. This catch was extremely impressive as the defender was all over Jibril. Also huge shoutout to Mohammed on murder hornets. He was carving up our defense, getting D’s of his own, and also broke Billy’s ankles for a deep score. Emory and Summer also both did a great job finding space and getting open; both of them had a massive 4 scores on the day.
An amazing first week and we can’t wait to play the hornets next time!!
