Pank v Yellow.
Report by the embedded Pank beat writer.
To be clear: it is windy. The wind will be an issue.
First few thoughts when seeing these two teams huddle:
Is this the oldest Game in Gainesville League History?
I can count 150 years of playing experience with just 6 players.
This game could get interesting!
These two teams are probably the best two teams in these conditions and
I am not sure if it is blessing or a curse that they are playing each other today?!
I am also not sure if these two teams lose to anyone else today, in these conditions and with the attendance issue(s) I see on the other three fields. I just don’t think it would happen.
The schedule says this is the match up so the game must go on.
I will keep the game write up short.
Pank looks a little deeper this game. The talent is really about the same but Pank just has more of it.
Yellow has to even play down a person for first part of the game when Pank is on the gender line.
Yellow does a great job against the Pank Zone. Yellow even has some early success on the hucks.
If you know yellow at all you know they don’t lack in throwing skill or willingness to give their receivers a chance.
Yellow even took the early lead with a person down upwind break.
Boom. Just like that. Yellow with a break. Did yellow dial up the internet and look up the blueprint on how to beat Pank? Will this game get really tight and very interesting? When does the drama start? Which team or person implodes first?
Fortunately or maybe unfortunately none of that happens.
The game stays really clean. No issues. TK did take a little beating in the first half but he was back up and running and cutting and stopping and running and cutting and stopping and running………………
He took a sub when it happened but got right back in the game. He stated, “I’ll be sore tomorrow”
Pank had two decisive happenings that lead them to victory:
First, Drew had the best throw of his life. A mental break through Level 10 difficulty throw and one in which,
“you better know your receiver” – scary to see Drew get even better! Watch out.
Pank made an adjustment on their fast break turnover offense and had a few really clean fast break goals that put the game away.
In the end it was a really clean game. Not nearly as many turnovers as one would expect. The 6 other teams in league should thank the schedule makers that they did not get Yellow today. I cannot imagine anyone else would of beat them today.
Pank was just little older and deeper in the end.
