Another rough week for our attendance, but luckily for us, the 8 tools we had in our Workshop were very sharp. Game 1 was against a fully loaded House of Dragonflies. The first half was pretty typical for us, we held all of our O points and got a big break early on in the half, making the first half score 6-5, with us coming out on offense to begin the second half. We scored our first point and then showed our zone defense for the first time. For some reason, the handler loaded HoDF struggled and we broke several times. After HoDF was finally able to punch one in, we went back to man and by that point, it seemed that our opponent’s had run out of gas. We broke the rest of the points in the half, for an 11-6 final. The biggest highlight for us this game was the entire team’s ability to not turn the disc over. On a hot day with low numbers, that was our focus from the beginning and for the most part we did very well at being extremely efficient on offense. On the defensive side, Thomas had a big help D against Timmy after he went deep on me. Mike also got a goal line stall-out which led to a break. On a personal note, I was disappointed to not get to go up against DDP like we used to, hope the body heals up soon!
Game 2 was against an equally depleted group of Schimmelfannies. Steven and Evan hung around after their second game was a no-contest so we picked up Evan and Steven picked up with Team Random Name Generator. It turned out to be a pretty even split, with Evan being responsible for 4 of our goals and Steven being responsible for several of theirs. On the FMP side of things, Emory went on her revenge tour against us, having a large role in at least half of their goals. For the rest of the game summary, this game was bad defense against bad defense. Neither team had much left in the tank, so both offenses ran the show. In the end, Name of the Week made a few more mistakes on offense than we did and we pulled out the win, 11-9. The highlight of this game for us was probably the defense of Adub. Despite some reallllllyyy bad early defensive points, he bounced back with a handblock and two deep Ds. Oh and he also had 8 assists, so I guess that’s something.
Hoping to have our FloridA boys back next week and very excited to see how big of a difference they can make for us, especially on the defensive side of things!
