This game encapsulated what league should be: evenly matched teams that played with great sportsmanship, a few foul calls that were quickly settled, and some fun throws that may or may not have resulted in turnovers.
White started on offense and after trading points to go 1-1 took a bit of a lead pulling ahead to 3-1. The three headed beast of Max, Zach, and Aaron did not like that and rallied to score 4 unanswered points taking the lead for the first and last time taking us to 3-5. After this white took a few seconds to gather ourselves and work out our offense for this game that involved playing primarily horizontal stack against the PurpleForest zone that had been giving us trouble. White ran a rotating group of handlers relying on our league veterans of Kate, Pat, Manny, Josh, and Shea to keep the disc moving as we looked for the excellent cuts of our younger players such and Lucy, Lex, Rashaad, and Ahmik to move up the field. The wild card of Bahgya let us break open the zone on multiple occasions and we would take half 8-7.
The second half was very similar to the latter half of start of the game with both teams scoring well against each other and we swapped points for a while. ForestPurple got a break here or there to tie the game up at 9s, 10s, 11s, 12s, and 13s but White would manage to put the game away with two assists by Kate one to Rashaad and the game winner to THE Manny Mendez.
Overall this was a super fun game for both sides and I spent most of the game rocking to Willie Byrd’s great taste in music. Huge shoutout to Charlotte and Kristin for keeping stats for White and being a great presence on the sideline!
