Is it weird that I loved this week? It was DEFINITELY an odd one, most people could not make it, but we had a GREAT time on the field.
I’ll lead this with: 7 on 5 ultimate is not ideal. For anyone. But Brandon and the Kelly Green team were amazing sports about it. We had a chat before the game started and essentially agreed to play an abbreviated game to 9 points for the sake of everyone’s legs/lungs.
Big shoutouts to Brandon Bowlin and Zak Kostamo for holding down tough handling jobs. A delicate balance of “I shouldn’t turn it over” and “I have 5 people and need to capitalize on every shot I have.” Not easy to do. Lyle Brenner also did a great job making smart decisions and capitalizing on a close-to-endzone turn to score for the team
Bigger shoutout to Lexie Nielsen who had a PHENOMENAL bid to score towards the start of the second half, and overall played a monstrous game. Same to Mike Kesselring who may not have hit the stat sheet, but was very calm, consistently open, and had more “hockey assists” than anyone else on the team.
GREAT goalty game (my first goalty game ever) afterwards between both teams, mixing up who’s playing with who. Big thanks to the other teams who joined us throughout the afternoon and watched me make stupid turnovers. Love y’all
