Week 2 Captains Report
Red (Blood Huckers) v White (Betty White Sharks)
Outcome: Red 11 – White 12
This game was one for the ages, and probably one of the most competitive games this season will see (I’m calling it now). With a bit of a windy day, and facing off one of the strongest teams in league, we knew this game would not be an easy one. At the start of the game, it looked like White may take an easier win than we wanted. Then we started really putting the pieces together and figuring out what type of throws were going to work against White team. With windy points, our deep throws were just not connecting, and many of Red’s turns came off deep shots that were not gonna work for us that day.
After the half, we tied up the game at nines before going on a two point run to lead 11 – 9. However, White managed to bring the game back to tied at 11s right as hard cap went off. Ultimately, we failed to score after getting the disc all the way up the field, and white was able to punch it in for the win.
White Team Shoutouts:
- Lex absolutely killed the cutting game, consistently getting open. They were a hard person to match on the field, never seeming to tire.
- Manny was all over the field, and proved to be incredibly difficult for us to answer to
- The high school squad were a force to be reckoned with. We all been knew that Bhagya has massive reach, and he showed it on the mark. Lucy and Jenna were alllllllll over the place as well.
Red Team Shoutouts:
- Our week one MVP Clyde managed to add four assists to his record
- Toshi found excellent positioning throughout the game to be exactly where we needed him against White’s zone
- Ellie has shown ENORMOUS growth since her first season. She reeled in a massive hammer throw from Joe as well!
Red Team MVP: Jacob Speedy. He racked up a massive FIVE Ds this game, plus was involved in 3 of our 11 scores of the day. He is as speedy as his name implied and found his way all over the field all game to give us open looks up the middle of the field before throwing continues that allowed us to keep the disc moving.
