Our team of wiley old veterans was missing around 150 years of experience for today’s scorcher. Thankfully, the Short Kings were also “short” on their attendance as well. Our experience and early season chemistry helped us jump out to a quick 3-0 lead before Yanuck & Co could get settled in. Some big jump balls to Danny “definitely not a third rounder” Gallagher got them back on track, holding their next three offensive points. We switched up our defense to take away Andrew’s big flicks and they never could recover. Final score 15-5, old and tall over short and fast.
Short Kings were without a lot of crucial pieces but still made us work hard the whole game. They had great movement from Manny, Matt, and Andrew and their ladies caught everything thrown at them. Just a few too many throwaways against our very stingy defense let us run away with it.
Our only male-matching new player, Tyler, had an amazing four scores in his first league game. His first pull of his life almost coffin cornered them, but Clyde “Eagle-eye” Anderson saw it land on the sideline. Bonnie played savage while nursing and had four scores, a monster hand block, and several great pulls. Trey drew the tough matchup in Danny and won about 50% of the deep balls against him. Nick had a great goal line D followed by a full field sprint to catch Ben’s huck for the bookends. All in all, a very impressive outing by our whole team. We turned it over less than 10 times in total, with over half being hucks to open receivers. Can’t wait to see how we do with another century of experience returning next week!
