Well, I procrastinated a bit on this and was still a bit out of it following biceps surgery so memories are vague. Here we go.
Thanos came into the game missing a lot of our handlers including myself, Bryant, Tom Brown and Adam Daigle, as well as Alison. Vector was missing Eric, Manny and Emily but had most of their handling core and it showed in the game. Vector played relatively efficiently and worked against our zone as well as exploiting matchups against person defense to score easily. We had some difficulty against their zone and ended up giving up a number of D’s as well as unforced turns. Vector got up early and slowly expanded their lead, finally winning 12 to 6.
Shout outs to Pat for his 4 D’s and Summer for her 2 D’s. Pat was everywhere. Josh seems to have fully healed and shaken off the rust from his knee injury and was impossible to guard running the disc up the field. KJ got open for resets at will using his old man magic. Vector’s women were really involved in the game and Jenny, Hayley, and Summer came up with 6 scores and 2 assists between them.
On our side, although it was a hard game missing handlers, there were a lot of bright spots. Lukas and Jacob looked like steals in this draft. Champion and Danielle doubled their experience in organized frisbee by playing this game and Danielle got her first score! Reagan moved the disc well and got open easily in her first game of the season. Tommy took over on offense and had 4 of our 6 assists and seemed recovered from the knee injury that threatened his season. Donovan is very fast and athletic and got open easily for scores. Lukas played hard D and had some great athletic plays including a huge bid that would have been one of the highlights of the season if the disc had been a half inch higher. We closed the game on a high note with a perfect full field backhand from Switzer to Jacob for the final score.
Overall, it was a good, spirited game but frustrating to only watch from the sideline. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in our next matchup.
