Oct 2 HoD vs Marsh Mermaids and HoD vs Mud Dogs

I’m the worst, and should have done this report a long time ago, but pers0nal and professional life both continue to command far too much of my attention. Why can’t I just play disc-based games all day long and not worry about anything else? The only remotely conceivable way I can achieve this is to amass an absurd amount of personal wealth, so hit me up if you want to donate to the “Jeff Rose never has to work again fund.”

Until then, I shall commit to doing these reports in a more timely manner and not long after the memory of the games has faded.  And it’s a SHAME my memory of both these games has faded, because they were AWESOME games. As far as my team goes, we continue to be short-staffed, and we continue to put up an AMAZING effort, despite not really getting a chance to have a breather. I’m not sure how we walked away with Ws for both games this week (some of our opponents may have been exhausted from the goalty tourney AND we had Steven make his first appearance), but I love that my team doesn’t quit, values the disc and each others efforts, and gives it their all, despite being exhausted for most of the points.

Ok, let’s talk Marsh Mermaids for a second. This is a SOLID squad. There are a few folks I don’t know super well on the team (they all played incredibly well), and then the rest of the folks I do know are all dependable handlers and cutters. This makes this team incredibly difficult to stop. We did a good job of capitalizing on turns, and making sure we didn’t have too many of our own, and that’s the only reason we came out on top in this one. Marsh Mermaids did a phenomenal job of getting their whole team involved and demonstrated phenomenal spirit throughout the game. Great game Marsh Mermaids 10/10 would huck with y’all again =)

Now let’s talk Mud Dogs. Firstly, HoDs new male-matching player, Jake, spontaneously broke out the “Remember that time Bobby Boucher showed up at half time” in our huddle, and that is, frankly, the main thing that sticks out to me about this game – and probably why we came out on top. We stole their power with Jakes Waterboy deep cuts (how in the hell was that almost 25 years ago… eff I’m old, but I digress).

Having played almost every point in the first game, I was starting to see double in this game, but I do recall both teams basically trading points until the end with some very solid and spirited ultimate. Again, I think it really came down to us making a few turns go our way. Mud Dogs are a scary full strength team, and we’ll need to bring our A-game the next time we face them, because I’m sure they’ll be looking to prove their dominance and show we were only able to topple them because half the team played in the goalty tournament the night before. Great game, Mud Dogs! 10/10 would huck with y’all again.

Apologies that these are so generic. I promise my next reports will be so detailed you’ll feel like you’re reading a damned lab manual (although hopefully it will be less dry and more interesting).

Cheers,

Rose
