Kudos to Steven for writing this up!
Shaaron was one of the teams I had at the top after I saw the results of the draft. Unsurprising as Shea has been really great at drafting over the last several seasons. They have a great mix of handlers and speed and definitely put our team to the test. One day HoD will have a full squad (I’m certainly to blame for quite a few absences) but til then we will accept our skeleton crew Ws with great pride. Lots of turns in this game meant not even hitting 11 pts before cap hit. Some shoutouts to Jared for being a great deep defender and bodying out Timmy on a couple occasions. Also to Bailey for calling a turnover on his own team for dropped pull. Great spirit, but we’ll save those calls for the finals. HoD played tough in both zone O and D and got enough turns and conversions to eke out the win at cap.
Jukebox is another team that i expected to be formiddable going into the season. Today we played them without quite a few of their key players, so the score isn’t too indicative of what it might be when we play each other at full strength. Having played on the same team with them a couple of times (on Fresca drafted teams, rip) its always great playing with Joe and Ellie. Shoutout to old B teamers from my coaching days Jeffrey and Brian for always putting in maximum effort. Brian had a sick poachy layout D on one of my throws, but also one not so sick dangerous lay into Bari. Covid cut his B team time short, so we’ll cut him some slack. We pulled away from Jukebox fairly early, but it was a fun game all around.
House of Dragonflies is now on a nice little winning streak despite the lack of numbers, hopefully we can continue to build on that with more subs in the future. I feel like i can trust every player on this team to make the right play, its going to be a great rest of the season.
