On a much friendlier weather day the nuggz showed up in prime form. Opening against the Flick of Fates, Evan immediately went back on his word of never laying out again and immediately laid out on the first point (no, he did not get the D), but he’d like to think it raised spirits and competitiveness on both sides. Unfortunately the Nuggets had a tough few first points going down 0-3 off the bat, followed by each team exchanging points for the next 10. Highlights include some stellar handling by Jared, Joe, and Kevin, particularly utilizing Ellie’s speed. Despite a ridiculous D and subsequent throw-from-the-ass from Matthew Stock, combined with some amazing stats from Liz and Kate, the Nuggets fell 11-9
Game 2 opened strong, with Matthew Stock rocking a CALLAHAN. He would continue to have a dominant game with 3 excellent hustle D’s, easily winning MVP and this week’s prize: a dozen farm-fresh eggs. However Huckules were true to their name, putting up multiple deep hucks to Zack and dominating the deep space for a 4 point run in the first half. While almost every player on the Nuggs got a stat, and Manny Mendez had one of the greatest catches you’ll see this year reaching full extension to snag one out of the stratosphere, the Nuggs suffered their second loss of the day falling 8-11. Big shoutout to both teams for a fun and spirited game!
