Zeus was a little angry this past weekend as he threatened to cancel our games for the day, but in the end, he calmed down and decided to let us play.
Hades Blades vs Flick of Fates
Hades was short some players but had all the firepower needed to be the strong team they are. The game was a pretty equal matchup, and scores were traded evenly throughout the game. We ended up going to Universe and turning it over to lose the game 9-10. Our biggest difference maker on offense this game was Kevin Switzer with 2 assists and 3 scores. Our biggest difference maker on defense was Joe Fleury, with 4 D’s. He did a great job not letting Coley catch the not-so-great hucks that were thrown his way and generating some turns for our team. On Hades, Sam Williams had a fantastic game and was always able to get open, making a huge impact on their offense. Sam even won Hades the game at the end catching a perfectly put backhand in the back of the endzone that Bonnie had put just out of reach of our defense. This was a tough team to go up against and I can’t imagine how good they will be when their full roster makes a showing.
Huckules vs Flick of Fates
Huckules was our second matchup against an undefeated team for the day. By now the weather was beautiful and our team was coming off a Universe point loss ready to work for a win. Huckules has all the experience but Flick of Fates has the athleticism and youth on our side. Zach and Michelle always have a habit of forcing our team backhand to try and handicap Joe but this season we locked in some backhand weapons on our team so it didn’t quite work as well for them as they had hoped. It was a great game, Huckules just made a few too many mistakes that ended up costing them the game with the final score of 11-8. A huge accomplishment against this team was minimizing Zach’s impact, we were able to stop him from getting any stats during the game. Offensively, Grant and Trey were our scoring machines as they both scored 3 points each. Special shout-outs to Will who had a sick layout catch off a rebounded D right outside of the endzone, and Kiana who was able to get both a score AND assist (FMP MVP!!). Defensively Carson was our D machine for the game, as he got 3 and even had a gorgeous layout D attempt that looked like he was gliding down a slip-and-slide. I need to take notes myself on the form, as he makes it look fun and not at all painful.
Till next time!
