In our week 2 matchup against Weenie Hut Jr’s. we started off with a solid point of offense where everyone touched the disc. However, in a flashback to last week’s game two, we quickly went down 1-3 after a seemingly flawless point 1. While we were seeing lots of consistent cuts in the middle of our horizontal stack (shoutout to Poki, Summer, and Andrew), and lots of clean resets to our handlers, it was a slow grind, marching down the field 5 yards at a time. Because of the sheer number of throws we were making, combined with our still brewing team chemistry (and a severe lack of pivoting), there were a few drops along the way. Devon’s booming voice on their defensive points also struck some fear into our hearts. As the game approached half we had an unfortunate pull drop which led to us coming out of the half 4-7. Our second half performance was better, managing to only get broken once in the half for a final score of 15-10. Unfortunately that break came with Jenna sneaking a grab out from under Alek on the final point, who she’d be calling out all game. All in all still a really solid game from both teams, with this week being declared a developmental week for our chemistry and a stat pad for the Weenies. Play of the game has to go to Austin for a crazy backhand huck, which went right over Jeffery and my heads as we came under, finding its way to the end zone where Devon sat unguarded.
Some obligatory shoutouts to Alek for stepping up and being our primary handler today, Caroline and Jake both stepping up in the handler space, Adam for a pair of scores, and Abdiel for battling back from an injury. Weenie Hut Jr. as a team was incredibly well spirited and was a fun group to play, definitely excited for a rematch where both teams are at full strength.
Next week we play the Ferocious Frisboos, in what’s sure to be a spooky showdown.
