Carolina vs Purple
Purple over Carolina 13-14
First week out the gate and both of these teams came out strong! With few women and some top players missing this was a game of newer players showing their grit, and their abilities on that field and they did not disappoint! First half the game Carolina took hold by taking half at 8-4! Our handler movement and great deep looks allowed us to take an early lead. Purple never wavered and utilized each point to move their disc and finding their chemistry as a team. Second half rolled around and that chemistry took over! Coming back with 4 or 5 breaks to tie the game and maintaining a lead from there! It was truly a game that displayed the abilities of both teams and showcased just how baller some of our newer league members are. Although Carolina ended up taking the L we are looking forward to meeting Purple again in the playoffs! Great game everyone!
CAROLINA shoutouts:
-Unmil Patel: behind the disc or down field Unmil was a force to be reckoned with. Was always available for a handler reset and made some sick shots down field for scores.
– Trey Miline: the guy who said he’s played for 3 minutes at the start of the game ended up leading us in scores (#athlete). He was open to asking questions furthering his growth in the sport right out the gate while still balling out! Got a compliment from the purple captains on how spirited he was and that he was very receptive feedback! Truly a mentality we love to see and have on our team.
– Joe Dickens: Joe was an asset to our team this game! He was getting D’s, assists, scores, and taking names all over the place! On every turn he worked hard on defence to get that turn over right back and often did! Don’t underestimate his quiet exterior cause Joe is a force for our team!!
As a captain I am very proud of this team and I hope we all continue to grow together in friz skills and our love for this sport and our Gainesville community 🙂
PURPLE shoutouts:
– Will Bryd: Will played really hard this game! I was impressed by the number of completions he made on some really questionable throws… the man almost broke his back to catch a throw behind him for a score.. what a boss!
– Rosie Murray: this girl… I can’t. Rosie is one of the must selfless players I’ve had the honor to play with! She constantly was making cuts that were for the benefit of her team and made my ladies work hard to guard her. In the process keeping spirit up and having a great time on the field!
-Alex: This guy was all over that field and was making some super awesome plays! He was constantly running through the disc, sacrificing his body, and making some really decent cuts! Don’t underestimate him because he will get that disc! Awesome job and looking forward to playing you again
