Sky Blue Captain’s Report – Game 2 Versus Charcoal
Twas a bright balmy Sunday in the Ville of the Gaines
All the frisbee freaks lined up for each of their games
Sky Blue and Charcoal were ready to goAnd Sky Blue won the toss, and opted for O
A rough start again, beleaguered Old Blue
And drops and poor decisions had us down by a few
Cause those Charcoals burned hot, and they capitalized
And they took half 8-4, despite how hard we tried
But Sky Blue is persistent, and with the punches we roll
And at half we agreed to dig out of that hole
And we came out with vigor and a will to win
And got ourselves out of that hole we were in
But Charcoal wouldn’t go down with no fight
And they maintained their lead, although it we kept tight
And when hard cap did sound, we tied up at 11
But Charcoal took Universe with some sick disc progression
SERIOUSLY fun game once Sky Blue sorted its ish out. I absolutely love this team, and we have amazing potential. We might be low in the standings, but those two universe games disguise a team that is only going to grow more dangerous as we play more together. Speaking of dangerous, great flow Charcoal, and fantastic spirit throughout the game. See you in the playoffs =)

Log: Week 2
Orange v. White
Outcome: Orange over White, 14-9
A beautiful, but windy day was in full swing as we took the field for week 2. Many teams were missing key players at Club Regionals this weekend, but we were blessed with almost a full squad. The game started with a lot of back and forth and then Orange took an early lead and found ourselves up 6-2 at one point. We made some silly mistakes and White came back at us HARD. We ended up taking half 8-6 after some scrappy points. After half, we went on a bit of a run and with the score at 12-9, hard cap went on and the game was over. We scored on the final point to make it 13-9.
White Team Shoutouts:
Natalie was everywhere today, darting through our zone and tearing it up, then
throwing continues to keep the momentum going for White
Tony Williams had an insane layout to keep the disc alive for white team on a
slightly too far upline throw
TK had some excellent deep shots that were perfectly positioned to stop our
defense from having a chance at a D
Orange Team Shoutouts:
Ben Hackett was thrown into the position of middle mark in our zone defense and
used his lanky arms to pressure throws all game
Jon Grez was all over the field today and had several connections with his
roomie, Sam, for scores
Parks tore up White’s zone defense, bobbing and weaving his way all over the
field and touching the disc almost every other throw to keep the momentum
moving up the field
Week 2 MVP: Ben Hackett is our week 2 MVP for being an amazingly coachable player and immediately making whatever adjustments we asked him to. When he hears direction, he immediately applies it to whatever he’s doing, and he worked hard to continue improving throughout today’s game. He also racked up another 2 scores today.
Orange over White 14-9. We were missing Layton, Billy and Rosie today for Regionals so I knew today was going to be rough against a full Orange squad. We fell into a 6-2 hole as our basic fundamentals and disc skills let us down. We weren’t really prepared for their zone. We figured a young athletic Orange team would have run person against us. We battled back to cut it to 8-6 at half but we just couldn’t get rolling in the second half. I like our defensive intensity. Very rarely did Orange have a clean O point but we just couldn’t convert our break opportunities. Spirit was excellent with all calls (there were only a couple ) easily handled on the field.
