BumbleDeez clinch the playoffs!

‘Twas a nice warm spring day, a great day to throw a disc around. My black eye was almost healed so I was very very excited to play. After a week of poor attendance, the BumbleDeez had a great turnout.

Our first game was against the huckery caterpillars. This team is currently the team to beat with only one loss this season, which was one from us. We came in hoping to be the only team to beat them…and do it twice. This game was super competitive from the start as we would’ve expected. The whole first half was on serve, so we took half 6-5. In the second half, all we had to do was not turn it over. Our first O point, we throw it away first throw after the pull. They break. Immediately after, we throw an errant huck, so suddenly these pesky little caterpillars are up 2 breaks with hard cap soon to go off. It was 9-7 and we had 2 minutes until hard cap, so we knew we had to score right away and get on the line before hard cap. So we move the disc up and Fletcher throws me a quick huck which leads to a really quick score before hard cap. Next point, they turn it over close to their end zone and in a point we should’ve broken, I had the worst drop of my life. This led to them getting the disc and Trevor getting what we thought was a sick hand block. A foul was called, which the BumbleDeez certainly did not agree with. They work it in and win the game. 10-8.

This was a really sad way to end the game since we love playing this team because of their good spirit and competitiveness. Shoutout to brad, Shea, and Nathan for being amazing sports after the game. We haven’t gotten a full game against the caterpillars and I think I speak for both teams when I say we would love to play again in the finals for a game to 15. Overall, another great game against those fuzzy little caterpillars.

Second game was against the dragonflies, who were very low in numbers. This is unfortunately the 2nd time we’ve played this team when they’ve had poor attendance, so we hope next week in playoffs will be a little different. Our first half we played very good frisbee and took a big 6-0 lead. Honestly huge respect to their whole team for playing basically savage in this heat. The second half the dragonflies didn’t give up and ended up scoring 3 (and even broke us and forced quite a few turns). Final score: 10-3.

The dragonflies are another team we feel is extremely well-spirited. Although their record doesn’t say so, I know this team has the potential to win some games. I really hope that when we play them again next week, they got their whole roster there, so we can really see what they’re made of. See you guys Sunday!!

Trying to recall this week’s games, I can’t really think of a queen bee. The whole hive played like queens. The disc was moving around the field everywhere, with everyone getting touches and a bunch of us scoring. Regardless of how we perform in the playoffs, I’m so happy with the BumbleDeez’ effort and the way we’ve improved this season.

And now here’s the part where I’m supposed to make a corny insect joke. So anyone who crawls or flies in our way, prepare to be stung! We’re ready to pollinate!!
