Week One Captains Report
Red Dead Redemption versus Lime Shock
Final Score: Red 9 – 15 Lime Shock
Last week’s game (sorry I’m a little late here) started off with a tiny bit of wind, but not enough to make a huge difference for either team’s throws. Red team quickly realized that Lime Shock would be a strictly zone team this season. We threw zone defense one or two times over the course of the game, but without enough wind to make the throws difficult, it just wasn’t working out in our favor and we shifted to person defense for the bulk of the game. We discovered that person defense would be our best bet, and generated lots of turnovers throughout the game, many of which we were able to score on. In the end, Lime Shock’s experience and stifling zone were too much to counter, and we managed to end the game at either 9-15 or 11-15 (who really knows these things).
Some shoutouts for Lime Shock:
- Bonnie was a menace all over the field, consistently getting open to deep looks, under looks, and every other type of look
- Brandon showed up late (maybe) and immediately made his presence known, tearing up the field
- Sara put on a ferocious mark, moving her arms with more energy than I will ever be able to muster on the field
Red Team shoutouts:
- New players to our league, Brett Hackett and Tommy Chaisson both made it out to their first game in our league and showed their expertise in varied positions all over the field
- Carsten Thu-Bludworth had an awesome layout D and was a match for almost anyone in the sky
Red Team MVP for Week One: Clyde Anderson for an amazing game with a layout D, amazing throws all over the field, and calm/chilly work through Lime’s zone.
