The Pink Slips entered our Week 3 game against fellow 2–0 squad Oh Craps feeling invigorated about the possibility of continuing our undefeated season. Missing just two players, it seemed we had all the pieces for a competitive game, and even after falling behind a few points early, another come-from-behind victory did not feel far out of reach (especially after a layout score in the end zone by Trevor to keep the game within two).
Unfortunately, Oh Craps never slowed their roll, pulling further and further ahead with a mix of solid and flashy plays — before we knew it, we were headed into halftime down 8–2.
The Pink Slips captains did our best to inspire another historic second-half comeback, but it wasn’t to be this week. Despite Jared’s four assists, another Schrock layout (this time by Weston), a few gritty D’s by James and Sterling and some exceptional hustle in the middle of the field by Wawa, Jess, Jo and Reagan, the Pink Slips failed to cash in and left with our first loss of the season by a humbling score of 15–5.
Time will tell which of these two Regular Season Juggernauts™ has that secret stuff to spark success in the playoffs. Until then, the Pink Slips look forward to playing better than doo doo next time around.
Over and out, MStock
