Week 3: Duloc Establishes a Downtown Parfait Stand for its Short King!

Hello all! I know you’re just dying for your weekly Duloc content, so here it is. How has this perfect team fared the last week? How will they fare in the future? Well, I’ve got the former in cold hard facts, but as for the latter? Pure dreams, rainbows, and speculation. Without further ado, Duloc Week 3!

I know I always say it was a beautiful day, but today was even more so. Cool, breeze in the air, patchy clouds for shade, and best of all, we had subs!!! Yes, after several weeks of less than ideal attendance, Duloc had about 11 of Dingers show up! Our first game was with Everyone Loves Parfaits, a very true team name if I do say so myself. Although they were somewhat lacking in numbers, we knew that they would give it as good as they got.

Both teams took their time settling in for the game, each scoring a break, until about 3-3. The Dingers starting batting 100 and went on a breaking streak to take half. However, the Parfaits must have had some blueberries with their yogurt because after half they closed the gap to 7-6 with slow and steady capitalization on the Dingers’ mistakes. But, Duloc would not be denied. They kept the pressure on and snagged a few more breaks of their own, leaving the final score at 11-7.

On the offense side, all our handlers displayed exceptional patience when working against the Parfait Zone. Ani, Andrew, Coach, Switzer kept the swinging alive and waited for the right time to strike. Van and Miles put up about half our points with good field placement from Van and raw speed from Miles. It was rather incredible to watch discs that might normally be considered overthrown to suddenly not be. Switzer was on fire with the assists, mostly to the aforementioned Miles. And finally, Devon also achieved a respectable Bingo.

For defense, Devon had two D’s. Van and Milan as well. Otherwise everyone else kept their Parfait marks shut down with many intimi-Ds.

For our second game, we had our first match-up with the Short Kings! A team which resonates deeply with us Duloc-ians. Unfortunately for them they were Travaglini-less, which definitely was a boon for us. We started off much stronger than we did in Game 1, capitalizing on several turns, playing strong Zone O, and taking half 6-2. Things slowed down in the second half, but we still managed to keep a comfortable lead, ending the game at 11-6.

For the Dul-Offense, Andrew decided that this game was the game to make things happen, netting 4 assists and a goal and being a real presence in the handler space. Ani and Alision also both scored, Alison with a phenomenal long range catch. The crowning jewel that this report wouldn’t be complete without, is the Coach Cally. Taking a gamble while in the Kings’ end zone, he capitalized on a loopy swing and swiped it out of the air!!! Truly a sight to behold!

On the Dul-Defense, I already mentioned Coach’s Cally, so I won’t again (much). Coach also got a gnarly hand block early that rang across the field. We had lots more passengers on the D train, Thomas, Van, Swilliams, and Devon each netting at least one and keeping the points long and tiring (exactly how everyone likes them).

That’s the bleacher report from Week 3 of the Duloc Dingers! See you next time!
