The Huckery Caterpillars vs The Murder Hornets: What can we Shea?

My very first thoughts going into this game were the following in this order:

  1. Whoever gets the first upwind point will generate a dangerous amount of momentum for their team
  2. If that team scores a second unanswered upwind point, then the other team is screwed
  3. Wait, are they listening to Ted? That’s good for them; Bad for us
  4. Ooof, so they have Allison, Brad, Coach Chris Oster, Jenny, Jess, Nathan, Shea, Steven plus another line of subs…Let’s see, we have 3 subs…

The Caterpillars started on O downwind. We traded points in an organized and calm manner until the score was 3-4. And then the Caterpillars got the D and converted, scoring the first upwind point of the game. (3-5 Bad Guys) Then they decided to do it again, because we could not score upwind for the life of us. 3-6 is daunting when the invisible forces of nature have joined in the fun.

For our part, Bonnie, Emory, Howard, and Summer were flawless. NO drops, 100% completions, strong defense, and great spirit. The rest of us? Well, when Ben asked me if I had any input, the only thing that came to mind was value the disc more, take what they give us, and as Brad likes to say, “Throw it low and spinney in the winney.” Of note, Carsten was a huge help on the sideline, keeping everyone informed of what was going on in our blind spots on the field.

For those that have the misfortune of playing against The Huckery Caterpillars next week, disregard the notes below at your own peril:

  1. Shae will eat your lunch as the short-deep
  2. Don’t run a zone on them, even upwind; Too many expert players for it to be effective
  3. Pranav shed his first caterpillar instar during our game under Ted’s real-time tutelage and is learning how to play behind the disc
  4. Jake WILL catch ANYTHING that is thrown to him…or not thrown to him for that matter
  5. Alana knows how to play defense; Do not underestimate how Deisel she is

But really, let’s just face The Truth. Without Jim Davis on the field, you better Pick’Ems the other team to win!

The Huckery Caterpillars took out The Murder Hornets 15-8

P.S. Shea chose The Murder Hornet’s for his Pick’Ems last week:)
