Quarters – Thick Royal vs a Thin Navy Gravy

The weather was not looking very hopeful 5:45 under that magic tree. With just slight sprinkles of rain and players, captains gathered to determine if we should play. Jenn said well Navy has 3 players here but we’ll do it. Captains decided to push start time back to 6:30 to give rain weary players time to show up. Navy had a thin line of only 7 shades of gravy to Royals always thick line of 11 so the blue teams tried waiting to the last minute to start playing hoping Navy’s gravy would find a few more shades.

Royal started on O but Navy had a SOLID savage line and came out strong. They started the game with two breaks leaving Royal a bit worried. Royal punched one in from Gianna Arcuri to Jenny Rod and we were off to the races. Navy was able to get one more before Royal ended the half 8 – 3.

Navy likes to start strong, came out and scored. Ryan Goetz and Josh Barker have some beautiful hucks and Andrew Pohl was making some amazing deep cuts/catches. So Royal decided to change up the defense a bit and capitalize on our ace of a defender Cody Clayson. With Cody giving us a huge safety net in the back we were able to play under our players and Sam Martocci and Jeffery Burdette came up with some nice Ds. I have to hand it to Navy’s savage line, they played every point at 100% but Royal finished the game 15 – 7.

Royal MVP: Dr. Anton – Our steady gloved handler. Those gloves came in handy yesterday and we needed every O point Anton played! He’s always an upfield look and works to get open in the handler space. Makes smart throws and smarter cuts.

Navy MVP: Andrew Pohl – Andrew did not let up all game. He came down with many of Navy’s points and had quite a few sweet catches deep.

10/10 very glad we got to play Navy again!!
