In a shocking turn of events, Purple lost 6-15 to Sky Blue (Surprisingly Thicker?), who surprised us with their persistence and dying need to catch every disc that gets thrown. Was it the absence of Skool and his endless supply of freezing cold water that left us floundering? Or is Ricardo to blame for disrupting the power of the holy handler trinity? Or was it the unfortunate defensive play by Sky Blue which left Brad wondering if he would need two knee replacements before the age of 30? Whatever it was, Purple failed to find it’s groove. But that doesn’t mean that there weren’t achievements worth mentioning.
In fact, this weeks MVP goes to a handler duo who made their debut against Teal, but showed off against Sky Blue: Mills & Ben. Purple’s only clean offensive point was thanks to the patience and skill shown by Mills & Ben as they effortlessly swung the disc up the field, finding our tenacious poppers (primarily Devon & Hannah) along the way.
Additionally, we had some fun firsts! Angela and Jemima both logged their first scores, and Andre got his first assist. I also watched Aaron Colverson catch the pull then turf the disc ten feet in front of the end zone. He may have been trying to help us out, but we also quickly turned the disc (it was probably Brad’s fault but I don’t recall), and then Sky Blue turned it again. I honestly don’t remember who scored this point but it was both a fun and grueling point to watch from the sideline.
Anyways, shoutout to the MVP duo and Coral, we will see you next week. Purple is craving a second win.
