‘Twas a hot and humid summer evening and league game 5 was upon us. We were pumped and ready for an exciting night of frisbee against Pink Slips. We almost had a full roster (no Ryan or Caio boo) and KJ was back! My dearest readers and fans, you are in for a treat with this one.
We started on defense and Pink Slips had a strong start as it was 2-4 in the beginning. We were still warming up.. then we turned the burners on hit em with a break train scoring 4 points in a row. CHOO CHOO (Thomas the Train voice). The wind was winding that day and the disc had a mind of its own. However, the conditions were perfect to put up our zone and our clam did their best to prevent Pink Slips’ throws from going off. Plant had like 3 foot blocks, what a guy. I really don’t remember if we implemented the KJ set plays as much as we usually do because I wasn’t paying attention to the game LOL. I’m pretty sure we did because, well, our offensive strat is OP. All I gotta say is that, instead of just Kyle playing in sneakers, we had mf Aiden DeTurris, AKA sidekick #2, rockin’ the Air Forces on Field 3. He had a good run and some crazy snags until his knee locked up or something and the Air Forces simple did not have the grip regular cleats would (he’s an idiot). We won half 8-6 and it was our game to win.. Coming out of half, our legs were fresh and our energy was through the roofs of Citizens Field. Ethan and Landon caused some game stoppage as they were kicking their tiny soccer balls onto the field. Silly children. We had a strong second half and Pink Slips were a force to be reckoned with towards the end. The wind was dying down, and Dustin and Kates’ hucks were flying smoothly. We were cookin’, like Gordan Ramsay, except without all the swearing and degrading of his cooks. With great patience and determination, we were able to earn a 15-11 win. GG Pink Slips.
As for Pink Slips’ highlights, Nan and Jess did a great job handling and moving the disc through our zone. They got some sticky fingers. Wawa and Jo were excellent at cutters and getting open in the deep space. As for MMPs, Jared, Sterling, and Matt were great handlers and did a fantastic job swinging the disc despite the windy conditions. Jared had some juicy hucks and crazy hammers. Billy and Weston made strategic cuts and were always open for their teammates down field. Schimmel came late but he was also a great handler for his team.
Onto the meat and potatoes of this report. Kate had 2 assists, 4 scores, 1 D. Her stats go crazy and thanks to me, I was watching her silly children on the sidelines. Palka used her long arms to snag 2 scores. Dustin crushed with 5 assists, 1 score, and 2 Ds. MVP for this game has GOT to be Andrew Cory, bro had 1 assist, 4 scores, 4 Ds, and 2 turns. Not too shabby. Yay for being tall and versatile! Like I said, Plant had 3 foot blocks (lockdown D!!), 1 assist, and 1 score. Anton had 2 assists and 1 D. It must be noted that after half, Kyle FINALLY put his cleats on and he for sure balled out, as he earned himself 1 D lets GOOO. Our chemistry on the field was so strong and baller, E=mc^2 AM I RIGHT (I’m failing physics).
I couldn’t be more happier and excited for the rest of the season and I’m so proud of my swaglicious teammates. Next week, expect to see us cook… til next time #WhoIsJak and #WhereIsThePot
