Game 4: Surprisingly Thicker vs. Teal

Score 15-13 – Teal

Thicker entered the game missing their heart, Captain Jenny, as well as several other key players (Evan, Trieu, Sarah, Clea, and Martin) who were unable to attend at the last minute.

Despite not having their full squad, Thicker came out and played a pretty good first half, going up 8-6 against a stacked Teal team. It was by no means a mistake free performance by Thicker, but nevertheless Thicker was feeling quite good about the outcome. After receiving the disc to start the second half, Thicker worked it up the field and were just about to go up by 3 points before the final throw, which was a bit off target. This was unfortunately the story of the second half for Thicker, too many miscues which Teal capitalized on. Thicker did fight back to pull within two at the end, but Fletcher’s beautiful hammer to Sam in the endzone ended the game. In hindsight, Thicker may have been a bit too relaxed going into the second half, and Teal deserves much credit for making the right adjustments at half-time.

A couple highlights for Thicker were Austin’s diving catch in the endzone from a nicely placed throw by Ben and Aaron’s cross-field hammer to Thomas in the endzone. Both Coach (Oster) and Ben made great cuts and throws all day. Jenny and Amy deserve much credit for playing almost the entire game, and neither of them ever looked tired.

For Teal, Billy seemed to be everywhere on offense, making the perfect deep or under cut all day. Josh was also a difference maker, with a diving end zone catch and multiple Ds. Huge shout out to Ellie who also had a great game, with multiple impressive catches on deep throws and a couple endzone Ds. Joe and Fletcher worked very well together in the handler space and each of them had a few incredible throws. And Sam and Ness played damn good, as usual.
