Captain’s Report
Game 4: Surprisingly Thicker vs. Purple
Score 15-6 – Thicker
Thicker had almost their full squad today with Anton returning from foreign lands (minus Sarah who came out to support us, despite not feeling well).
The game started with thicker coming out strong and taking an early lead. Then purple battled back to pull within two before Thicker took the half (8-5). Thicker’s defense became even thicker in the second half and forced purple to swing the disk quite a bit. Thank goodness for the defense because offensively there were a few miscues that will hopefully get cleaned up next week (aka Tomorrow).
A few highlights for Thicker were Trieu’s hammers to Austin, Evan’s deep huck to Austin, and Anton’s thumber to Austin, all for scores. Captain Jenny continued to impress with her one handed grabs and ability to see multiple thicker people in the endzone. Coach (Oster) had a perfect flick that hugged the sideline for a score to Trieu. And Fletcher had two beautiful long flicks, one that the wind took at the last minute, and one that Jenny (JIGS) caught for the final point of the game. That throw however, would never have happened if it wasn’t for Martin’s willingness to sacrifice his body to catch an errant throw. It’s amazing how a post-game beverage outing can motivate players!
Austin and Jenny (Jiggs) were Thicker’s MVPs. Austin consistently getting open and scored five of Thicker’s points, with two assists. Jenny (Jiggs) always seemed to get open and consistently made great decisions and throws, as well as scored four times.
For purple, Brad made a heroic comeback in the second half after an unfortunate collision with Trieu in the first half and played quite well. Devon made great cuts and got open all game, as did Hannah and Jemima who were frequently open in the middle of the field and tough to guard all day. Dustin, David, and Ben exhibited great patience all game, and Dustin made a few incredible throws, but what’s new!
