Game 1 vs The Myrmidons:
Coming into this game I knew it would not be an easy task to take down The Myrmidons who were known for their fierce devotion to their leaders Nathan and Jenna. Led by the ridiculously athletic duo of Carsten and Josh, I knew it would be a long and hard day trying to keep up. We started on defense and took half 7-4. We finished the game 11-9. This game had good spirit, competitive play, and great vibes. Naomi, Clyde, Chris “Coach” Oster, Brandon, and my teammate from last season Lukas all played great. This team will only get better as the season moves along. As for our Fates, Steven started the season strong with 4 assists. Jared and Lucia scored 3 points each. Chris Falk tallied an assist and a score as he prepares for the GGM club season. Russell iNeedham tallied a triple single with 1 score, 1 assist, and 1 D.
Game 2 vs Athrowdite
After winning our first game and not having to move fields, it’s safe to say our team was feeling pretty good. Kevin Switzer complimented my music, Ellie and I hadn’t bickered all that much and to make things a little easier my good buddy Sam wasn’t making an appearance for Athrowdite. We started on defense again and won this game 11-6. Some noteworthy plays I remember from Athrowdite include Omie catching a Statue of Liberty skyball over Ellie. To be fair I think she would have caught it over anyone, she was about 10 and a half feet up there. Shea got a huge foot block, and a new player to me Thomas Eggers got 3 D’s and two of them while guarding me. As for us Fates. Braden Flynn in his first ultimate game ever caught a layout D, he was unsure if he needed to smack it down or catch it so he played it safe and caught the layout D, already way cooler than me. To add more layouts, Carson was all over the place, starfish layout, layout to catch my mile-high hammer. Ellie got Omie back in which was a nice matchup to watch unfold and scored 3 times and got 2 Ds herself. Jared, Kevin, Steven, and I each had 2 assists as we spread the love of ultimate to our young and fast team. Probably my favorite moment of the game was when Kiana scored her first goal! The excitement and happiness expressed by the entire team was amazing. Our team is full of new players to the sport and watching them slowly fall in love with it reminds me of why I like to play it so much. They also watched some of the videos I sent which means the world better look out for The Flick of Fates. Remember even Zeus feared The Fates.
