Frisboos Scare the Pop Out of Us

As the wise Skool Boy said in the power rankings post, this week was going to be a crap shoot of results with most teams missing big contributors. Unfortunately for us, we were going up against a team that was only missing a guy that was barely even drafted, while we were missing our entire handling core. Looking across the field on the first pull and seeing a line of guys of Ben, Carsten, Matt, Tom, and Vander, we knew our depleted stable of guys was in for a rough day of man defense. We came out in zone and were very quickly and efficiently scored on. It took us a few O points to figure out a way to move the disc but eventually punched one in at 1-3. From there a combination of man and zone defense, as well as several throws to Tom’s ankles, put us up 4-3. Unfortunately that would be the last time we were in control of the game, going down at half 5-8. With a halftime strategy change of using our ladies in the deep space more, I was hopeful we could make a dent in their lead, but we unfortunately just couldn’t connect on several open deep shots to Emily. We started a comeback around 5-13, but the gap was too wide and Frisboos ran away with it, 9-15.

The high schoolers made a big difference for Frisboos in this game, with Lucia being a menace for our ladies to cover and Vander beating us deep several times for scores. On our side, future steal of the draft winner, Nick, was one of the few bright spots on the day. He threw me some absolutely perfect hucks for goals, seemingly the only player present for us capable of hucking on the day. Michael also continues to improve, catching his first goal of the season, and more importantly not throwing any turnovers despite an aggressively hacky mark from Matt Henry. I established myself as league’s premier deep threat, beating Carsten and Ben multiple times, and look forward to our stable of handlers returning next week so I can get out of the backfield /s.

Bold prediction time: the matchups from this week will be the same matchups in the final game of the playoffs. Frisboos v Pop Quiz in the finals, Best Friends v David S Huckins in the 3/4 game, Joe and Billy returning to their rightful place in the chumpionship game against Shea’s Scoobers after Shea somehow finds a way to lose to our team again in quarters, and the late add captains of Weenie Hut and Fantastic Fourhands battling it out in the Toilet Bowl.
