Week 1: Lost it on the river: Texas v. Lucky Rollers

Score: 14-9, Lucky Rollers

Tonight’s game of frisbee was awesome.  Initially, Texas started off strong when Summer got a layout D and immediately tossed the disc to Justin for a score.  We continued to remain strong throughout the first half with some notable Ds by Daniel and Justin.  Daniel, Joe, and Stephen all proved to be strong handlers with some amazing decision making and tosses.  Daniel with his assist to Eryan (W00T), Joe with prodigious abilities handling against the Lucky Rollers’s zone, and Steven with his amazing hucks (especially the awesome hammer he threw to Jenna when she was wide open!).  Overall, Texas certainly has some more awesome games in store the rest of the season.

Before signing off, I can’t forget to mention some of the amazing plays by the Lucky Rollers.  Devon had an absolutely phenomenal layout score.  JT had a beautiful huck to the end zone also for a score.  Also by JT was an epic catch while toeing the (imaginary) line despite it being out-of-bounds (womp womp).  That catch was almost as memorable as Manny’s catch that also toed the endzone line.  We saw dirt kicked up in the air as Manny extended his legs to make the score.

Other notable moments:
Ben racking up the stats with his assist and score🤜🤛
Ricky for his layouts and tight defense 😎

Lindsey was amazing at taking ownership of the field—she got open so many times and at just the right moments to make an assist or help move the line downfield.

Justin and his defensive prowess really made a difference.
Ryan really stepped up to the plate in the handler space and helped move the disc.

Lucky rollers got lucky this time and caught the win on the river (the second half), but we’ll call their bluff (and their zone) when we play them next.  Stay tuned to see what’s in the cards next week.  Until then, take care, be well, and stay safe.
