Hello Gainesville! We’re back for another wet and swampy season of League here in the bayou. In a blast from most of our pasts, the glorious head of a Shrek theme has arisen to inspire this season. From our neck manicured neck of the swamp, we present the Duloc Dingers! Many-a-thing is anticipated from everyone’s favorite small-town frisbee team.
Unfortunately, our first game did not begin with a bang. With four present at the start of the game and two more trickling in by a quarter of the way in, we did not match up super well against the rather elite Get Shreked line. Despite this, Duloc’s favorites were still down to clown and give it their best shot. We gave it as best we could, finishing with a somewhat respectable 15-5 defeat.
On the O-line side, Ben Stone and Hooper used their years of canny experience to keep the disc alive. Thomas Dolce helped keep things moving, netting 3 assists, including a filthy hammer to Devon. Miles also made his mark, with several deep cuts to catch Ben Stone bombs, a point off a well-timed cross cut, and even tossed an assist to Hooper. Devon scored most of Duloc’s points today, including a very nice sky over Adub off a big curvy OI throw.
While playing Defense 5 on 7 is no easy task, the Dingers managed a good showing. We played zone the whole time, forcing Get Shreked to slow down and work for their points. Ben Stone managed a spicy hand block early in the game, and Devon managed to snag two back to back D’s in late game.
A fine showing was had from Get Shreked as well. Adub, Coley and Tommy ran circles through the zone defense, in an unbroken chain of swings and cuts. Brayan Caldera made phenomenal cuts, always seeming to be in the right place for the reset or the continuation. And a shout out to Lydia as well! She picked up zone really quick and scored the winning point!!
All in all, not the perfect games Duloc might strive for, but respectable nevertheless. Next time we will have a full complement of perfect Fris-citizens ready to show what Duloc is all about. See you all next time!!
