Oh how glorious to be back out at Citizens! Week 1 is always fun getting to meet your team and see how everything shakes out. Royal was excited to be back and playing again even if it was against the strong line up of pink and that dynamic Layton-Logan combo. Pink was unfortunately missing quite a few people from that solid line-up. While almost all of Royal showed up giving us the advantage of fresh legs. First half Royals goal was to switch the lineup often and get players to try out all different positions on the field. Royal moved the disc quickly relying on lots of short under cuts from everyone on the field. This proved to work for Royal as we took half 8-2. Halftime Royal tested out a few new variations of their team name and decided to let Pink play an extra male when Royal was in the genzone instead of having to play down a player. May seem nice but really we just wanted to test out our zone. Royal went with a 2-3-2 zone fearing pinks long hucks to the end zone but Logan, AnaBel and Tyler still came down with a few. Pink had a strong second half but Royal ended the game 15-8.
Royal MVP: Sam Martocci! Sam had two back to back bookends. Several key ds and scored royals game winning point. This guy is not just a spike ball player.
Royal highlights:
- Aaron getting 4ds in the last point
- Emily K crushing it in the middle constantly getting open and catching two back to back hammers to bail out our handlers
- A gorgeous put from G (Garrison) to Don wide open in the end zone
Pink shoutouts:
- Tyler Vaughn played an incredible game. Made several amazing catches, and worked really hard all game. Definitely a huge asset to pink.
- AnaBel played every single point and barely broke a sweat. Making us work hard on O, and getting open all day with her quick under cuts and some great catches/scores from a few deep throws from Josh and Tyler.
