TL;DR: Royal Flush 15 – Short Stack 10
Game Summary
Another windy day at summer league—who would’ve guessed? Despite the wind, both teams managed to find success with their cuts and throws. The first half was a consistent back-and-forth between Royal Flush and Short Stack. However, Flush gained momentum and, with some assists from the wind, built a sizable lead. Despite a strong fight from Stack in the second half, Flush’s momentum carried them to victory. The score didn’t fully reflect the game; each point felt like a grind, even with some quick huck-and-score points from both teams.
Royal Flush Highlights:
- Sam Weiler threw a backhand to Andrew Pohl that had no right to be caught for a touchdown.
- Billy had a sweet moment with me, checking in as a player to ensure he wasn’t overstepping. It would’ve been treasured if he didn’t call me Chris two minutes later.
- Rosie was insane today with hucks, break throws, and fast upline cuts. The best thing Flush did was get out of her way so she could control the game.
- From my wife, Elizabeth Moyer: “Ani is a G”. Ani is more or less a cheat code—she teleports to the right spot, always makes a good throw, and always makes the smart call. I need her to throw it away a little more so she doesn’t get drafted as quickly next season, but I think captains have already noticed.
Short Stack Highlights:
- Zach and Michelle are always a scary team to play against, and today was no exception. I’m excited about our win because these two are insane on the field.
- The Switzer clan performed well, with big hucks and impressive run downs.
- Brandon Bowlin is the definition of cool, and I want to be more like him on and off the field.
