Happy July, and apologies for the late recap of the June 26 contest between Pink Slips and Short Stack!
“Strength in numbers” was not Pink’s strength in this one, with just five MMPs who each played nearly the entire game and ran out of steam a bit down the stretch. Another old adage which rang true was “strength in an extremely experienced and disciplined handling core” — Short Stack’s crew of Zach, Michelle, Brandon, Clyde and Mo (and still others I’m sure I’m forgetting) took great care of the disc and maintained a cool advantage throughout, despite playing a person down on every other point. Though the Pink Slips won the first point after the half (once again at our familiar 8–6 deficit), the shorts were stacked against us from there, with the Lime and Yellow coming out on top 15–11.
That said, Pink had lots to be proud of in this game. Anthony consistently exploited holes in Short Stack’s zone defense and had his own standout defensive play of the game, nearly recording a Callahan in the first half. Jo further solidified herself alongside Reagan and Jess as one of the most surehanded poppers across the four fields. And, Sterling came through with several clutch plays and some even clutcher watermelon slices. With our last regular season game coming soon against Texas, Pink hopes to secure a winning record for the regular season and regain some momentum before playoffs.
Pinkies up 🤙🏻
