Sunday I was hockin’ loogeys the size of tennis balls, so I had the benefit of practically spectating this game, and it was a very exciting game to spectate. We began the game somewhat tit for tat, then White went on a run and took half at 8-4. We decided we needed to get some more electricity so we played a game of electric hot potato with a toy potato that literally shocks you if you get left holding it. That helped to fire us up, but white was determined and the score went from 8-4 to 10-4. Finally Pannk had had enough. Specifically our MVP, real live Hot Potato Donovan Pisano who had at least three stellar blocks firing us up, resulting in three consecutive scores. Drew Hiatt had several amazing lay out catches, one close to the ground which was a contested catch and sent back to the thrower (Per XVI D) and thrown again for a score. At this point we were down four at 8-12, but punched in four more and it was 12-13 and finally the last goal and we sighed a collective pannnnk sigh. We wheeled out our walkers off the field, recovered those of us who had Pannked out after Dan’s 4th consecutive score and convened for a cheer and a shot of Pannk moonshine straight from the hill country.
White played a really hard game and nearly had us. Alexa Switzer proved herself again, silent and deadly in the end zone. Schimm threw some insane throws with grace and accuracy that left us impressed. Their new player Donovan had a killer run through D, he is a serious evolving threat. I can’t wait to see what he brings end of season. They were missing Josh “wheels” Layton, which no doubt hurt them.
This game was the kind of game that keeps me smiling all week long. Great Game White!
