Ahoy, ye scallywags and swashbucklers! Gather round and hear the tale of the most daring Ultimate Frisbee league match to ever grace the shores of Gainesville. Our crew, led by none other than Captain Billy and Captain Evan (they finally showed up), set sail on the high seas of competition with hearts as bold as the Jolly Roger itself.
But afore we set foot on the field, Captain Billy aka #444, bless his salty soul, embarked on a marathon fit for a buccaneer of legend. Yet even with his legs weary from the long haul, he emerged as our top scorer, though a fumble in the endzone kept him humble as a deckhand scrubbin’ the bilge.
Our first skirmish was against the fearsome Jolly Joker Ship, a crew as fierce as they come. Down at halftime we were, for the trio of Switzer – Carson, Sydney, and Alexa – proved to be the backbone of their band of scallywags. Consistent as the North Star, they cut through time and space like a cannonball through the hull.
Now, there be a lad named Capt’n Joe among them, who when played safe as a tortoise in its shell, his ship couldn’t score. But when he risked them big hucks, they sailed close to the edge of the map, yet somehow found their mark with big receivers like his co-capt’n Ellie, catching these beautiful full sail discs.
Ricardo, bless his soul, kept losing his bandana in the heat of battle, yet remained as cool as a cucumber on the biggest plays. And Steven Nguy, like a master navigator, charted his course to victory, racking up assists and scores alike.
Devon, with a voice as loud as a gale, bellowed orders from port to starboard, rallying their crew to an almost victory. Captain Billy, with vengeance in his heart for his treacherous first mate, unleashed a frisbee BINGO upon the seas, dealing assists, scores, and a mighty D to his former co-captain. But ’tis Ani, a defensive machine unmatched, who earned her place in the annals of pirate lore, snatching four big D’s from the clutches of Ellie herself.
And so, with the wind at our backs and the sun setting on the horizon, we came from behind to reach universe point, emerging victorious against all odds. Aye, ’twas a battle for the ages, and one that shall be sung of in taverns from here to Tortuga. Onward we sail, for the seas of competition are endless, and the glory of victory awaits us on the horizon. Arrr!
But don’t leave yet, me hearties. Gather back ’round and hear the tale of our second bout upon the salty seas of Ultimate Frisbee! This time, we faced off against the formidable crew of Thanos, led by the fearsome cyborgs Ben and Nathan, with only six working limbs betwixt them. But fear not, for our crew was ready to meet their challenge head-on.
Tommy and Regan, the workhorses of Thanos, stamped their mark upon the midfield like thunder upon the waves. Yet, it was Kevin Switzer and Ryan Plant, seasoned fathers both, who showed that parenthood begets prowess on the frisbee field.
Our Captain, Evan, ever the cunning strategist, attempted to sway the tide of battle with offerings of eggs, beer, and steady hands. Alas, the siren song of victory eluded us for a time.
But it was the familial bond between Jill and Vander, mother and son, that truly captured the spirit of the seas. A full circle moment indeed, as their connection led to one of our most triumphant scores.
Mills, steady as the North Star, navigated the treacherous waters of the field with unwavering consistency, never once turning the tide in favor of our foes.
And let us not forget Alek, the very epitome of conservation of greatness. From a massive D that shook the very timbers of the ship to a daring score that brought thunderous applause from our crew, Alek’s prowess knew no bounds. Though, a mishap led to an out-of-bounds huck, and a turfed disc to Peg Leg Jess and her first attempt at laying out since “the accident” reminding us all of the fickle nature of the seas.
Down 8-5 we were, but like true buccaneers, we rallied together and clawed our way back to victory. Emory, with a keen eye and a steady hand, directed the flow of discs with precision, culminating in a glorious catch in the endzone that sent our crew into a frenzy of cheers and securing two triumphs in a single day. Aye, ’twas a glorious day on the high seas of Ultimate Frisbee, and our crew shall sing of our victories until the end of days! Onward we sail, ever seeking new horizons and new challenges to conquer. Hoist the colors high, for we are the masters of the waves! Arrr!
