JAK Pot Week 3: We Splitted Their Aces

With a full roster, we were hype for this match because our opponents had almost the same amount of UF Club players… but our greatness prevailed (get reck’d Max and Harin). The JAK Potters were ready to rumble and we had a lil something in our back pocket. OG Friz God KJ taught us yet another set play and yet again we put all our trust in his hands.

The first half was a wee bit rough for the Potters. We started on defense and scored the first 2 points then we just simply were not yet locked in. Aces scored 3 consecutive points on us at one point with some superb disc movement. I’d like to blame our lack of focus on the lack of TUNES. Kate and Dustin so graciously brought their huge boom box but womp womp… it wasn’t CHARGED enough. But it’s fine, whatever. Anyways, by the time the score was 4-6, we finally locked the heck in. We used the set plays KJ had taught us last week and this week and we were COOKIN, like Chef Boyardee. They won half 8-6 but we all know with JAK as our captains, we are a second half team mhmm mhmm. Coming out of the second half super duper strong, we hit Aces with that chugg-a chugg-a choo choo 5 point break train YURRRPPP. We were cookin’. The house was on fire and someone left the stove on, forreal. It would have been absolutely bonkers if we had 9 points scored straight but we let em slip by and it was 11-9 at one point. Nonetheless we ended the match 15-9 and I couldn’t have been more proud of how well our gang of young and old heads played! GG Aces and get reck’d (respectfully).

Are you that bright color of a safety patrol belt? Because I’m bouta HIGHLIGHT some baller plays made by Aces (pretend to laugh please). Starting with their FMPs. Resident red head (everyone has a redhead on their team amiright?) Jill was a magnificent cutter and was constantly making our zone work like a dawg. Clea and Marin had some sick snags and wide open catches that the Potters were simply not there to defend at some points. Cat did a great job in the handler space catching some wild hammers by her MMP teammates. Onto their MMPs. Harin, Eric, Max, and Aymo killed it in the handler space. They were super patient with the disc and flowed very nicely with their cutters. They had some crazy hammers and hucks deep that I was impressed by. Despite being just a kiddo, Vander absolutely killed it down field and always managed to get open in the end zone. Cameron and Lucas were always open despite our zone defense and Jack had some stellar Ds and sick points scored. Must be nice to be that damn tall. Great playing Aces.

Now lemme shine the spotlight on my super swggy and fire team!!! Starting with our FMPs. Kate had 2 assists and 1 score. There was some yapping on the field about a foul and she had great spirit talking it out with Clea. Long limbed red head Poki (my pookie) had 4 scores and 1 D. Yay for tall women in sports! Hayley and Sarah crushed getting open as cutters on the field and Sarah scored a point thrown by her fearless captain (me). I had 2 assists so that was lit. As for our MMPs, Dustin absolutely crushed on offense with a total of 7 assists and, oh yeah, he crushed on defense too with 2 killer Ds. Being a short king is no excuse to not get high and get some Dssss. Plant balled out on offense AND defense and earned himself 2 assists, 4 scores (1 of them was a Callahan!!! WHAT!), and 3 Ds. Caio was supportive on the sidelines and had 2 scores and 1 D. Kyle was 1 for 1 on scores and assists and hey let’s not forget this man got no ACL and doesn’t play in cleats bro let him COOK. Yet again, Andrew, Ryan, Anton, and KJ were an essential part of our set play and helped execute it perfectly.

We earned a 15-9 victory and showed incredible patience and grit on the field. The intensity of the game never wavered, and neither did our spirit. Even when the Aces tried to up the ante, we kept our cool and played our game. Last week, and I quote, I said “If we play our cards right, we might be cookin’ next week too.” Cook we done did, and we might just do it again next week… stay tuned brothers #WhoIsJak and #WhereIsThePot

Love,

Jemima
