SPOILERS: Cardinal took the win with a score of 15-13 (probably)
Even though both team captains were not great at keeping the score(we will be better in the future, promise!), we had a fun competitive game to start off the Summer 2021 League.
This first game started with a fun game with both teams being well-matched. Both teams had some veterans and some new players, which made the game even and competitive. To start off, Navy took the first half playing very well, working together as a team like they have been playing for a long time. It took the Cardinal team a little longer to adjust, but when we found our chemistry, we started making great plays which ultimately lead to our win. However, both teams played really hard and made great plays on the field.
MVP for Cardinal: Billy Field! As ultimate SMASH fan, Billy also smashed it on the field. His cutting was amazing all day and he seemed to always come down with the disc no matter how many defenders were on him. Even when the disc was out of bounce, he managed to throw the GREATEST for a score!! He also helped with coaching on the field and gave points to some of our players. Overall, Billy was amazing and we can’t wait to see him ball out some more in the upcoming games.
MVP for Navy: Josh Barker!! This guy is so fast and works hard on both offense and defense! He was not afraid to layout for a disc and was ready to throw dimes for his team. Overall, he was a great handler who could not be stopped on offense and who made the game more fun.
